The 1st Annual Mom Prom! Last June, JEF held its first annual Mom Prom at the PAC. This women only event gave moms and non-moms alike the opportunity to throw on an old prom dress and dance to current hits as well as songs from proms past! A great raffle and photo-ops with Elvis and Zac Efron rounded out this extremely fun evening.

Under A Rising Moon Fundraiser at Horsehead. On July 24, 2010, more than 250 people gathered for a beautiful evening at Horsehead. This spectacular setting served as a perfect summer backdrop for supporters of JEF to enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres under the beautiful rising full moon. This event was supported by lead sponsor National Grid, supporting sponsors Island Realty and William Varieka Fine Arts, contributing sponsors Keen Design Studio, Newport Investment Management, and Peter J. Schott, DMD, as well as by more than 20 local sponsors. In addition, JEF was the beneficiary of a wide and exciting assortment of items donated for our silent auction. The generosity of our supporters, sponsors and auction donors made this our most successful fundraiser to date!

Toast of the Town - Chris Powell. Toast of the Town Honoring Chris Powell. March 28th, 2009 was a night to celebrate Chris Powell and his many contributions to Jamestown. Champagne toasts flowed as the scientist, volunteer, educator and Chief Fool was honored and recognized for helping to shape a better future for Jamestown youth. Dinner and live music by Barcode rounded out a very special evening.

Sunset Dinner Cruise. A picture-perfect evening set the stage for a wonderful Dinner Cruise in July, 2008. Guests boarded the elegant Harbor Queen at Conanicut Marina and were treated to cocktails and a lovely sit-down dinner as they cruised throughout Narragansett Bay. A silent auction helped make the evening a successful fundraiser, as guests bid on such items as fishing trips, off-road adventures, exquisite art and Red Sox tickets. Live music was provided by a student string ensemble. JEF thanks all who came out for the cruise in support of our programs.

Sing-A-Long Sound of Music. JEF held a fun-filled family night at the Jane Pickens Theatre in Newport on November 29th, 2007. The evening featured “The Sound of Music” on the big screen, complete with the bouncing ball so everyone could sing along! Everyone was encouraged to wear a costume with a “Sound of Music” theme, such as “brown paper packages tied up with string,” and prizes were awarded by a panel of teenage judges. It was a wonderful night for all!

Toast of the Town – A Night to Honor Mary Wright. On March 31, 2007 JEF held a rousing tribute to Mary Wright, one of the founders of the Jamestown Community Theater (JCT). The evening celebrated Mary’s accomplishments and the major role she has played in shaping the lives of Jamestown youth. Many theater members reprised their JCT roles in a funny and touching cabaret show. Over 180 people turned out to support Mary and the Jamestown Education Foundation.

• During the winter of 2006, JEF threw a fabulous Contra Dance party at the PAC! Everyone enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner, then kicked up their heels to the lively music of the Parallel String Band.

• In 2005, our supporters spent a spectacular and elegant evening enjoying Cocktails By The Sea at, Cajacet, the gracious seaside home of the Long family. Live jazz and beautiful scenery made it a night to remember. Attendees enjoyed beautiful surroundings, a jazz ensemble and live auction with David Long at the gavel. Patriots’ tickets and a trip to Martha’s Vineyard were but two of the great items up for bid. The event raised nearly $14,000, all of which will support educational programs for Jamestown students. JEF thanks all those who made the event a success.

• Each year since our inception, JEF has hosted at least one major fundraising event. Our first event, Food, Fun, and Follies, was a hilarious evening with Charlie Hall's Ocean State Follies comedy troupe! Everyone enjoyed a gourmet dinner at either the Slice of Heaven, Conanicut Yacht Club, or the Portuguese American Club, then gathered for some great locally-grown comedy at the Recreation Center.
